Sentry is a real-time, web-based tracking system that manages time-critical, high-value parcels from multiple carriers, provides valuable information on packages that experience a transit problem, and a process to facilitate the intervention and rescue of that parcel using a local courier.

Sentry, the Extreme Tracking System, works like this: The first tracking procedure takes place at approximately 8:00am each morning.  By this time, the majority of packages can be classified as “on-schedule” and some may even be delivered.  More importantly, the packages which suffered a problem during transit, are visibly identified.  The operator is able to keep a close eye on these packages, re-track them more frequently, such as every half-hour, and start making contingency plans.  Using information from the tracking system, this may involve contacting the parcel carrier, the customer, the shipper and dispatching a local expedited carrier. 

	Sentry uses ShipMatrix Enterprise for the source of data.  This means that any data source used by ShipMatrix Enterprise can be used with Sentry.  Click here for a list of our popular data sources.  You will need the ability to send us this data file on a daily basis.  Our technical support team has many techniques and tools available to configure an easy-to-use process.
